Grace's First Birthday!
It was wonderful to hear from Kelly, who shares with us in detail how these fabulous cakes were made for precious Grace's birthday party! Read on for all of the details! Thank you, Kelly!

For Grace's first birthday we had not one, but TWO awesome Gabba cakes. I made the decoration for the sheet cake and a family friend made her a smash cake that looked like DJ Lance's hat.

I started off by making a stencil on the computer using a Gabba logo I found online and Adobe Illustrator. I made the starburst logo out of fondant. I bought Wilton ready-to-use white fondant from Wal-Mart and kneaded in gel icing color for the blue and yellow pieces. I painted on the orange outline and the lettering using the same gel icing color and a very fine paintbrush.

I'm very pleased with how well it turned out considering I've never worked with fondant before.

The smash cake was made of white cake and regular piped icing. The star on the hat was made of marzipan.

As you can see, it was delicious.
