How To: Make a Yo Gabba Gabba Tri-Character Pinata!
KayaPapaya made this super rad pinata that features three different Yo Gabba Gabba faces! Lucky for us, she tells us exactly how she did it, so we all can make one too!
I started out with paper mache over a punch ball, but when I left it to dry over night (after 3 hrs of paper mache) the balloon popped in the middle of the night and I woke to a busted paper mache shell on the ground. So I started over with another punch ball balloon and this time used plaster tape to cover it (available at Michael's).
After each layer of plaster tape (cut strips, dip in water and smooth over balloon) I let it dry. I think I did 4 or 5 layers total. I left a hole open on one end and after the shell dried I filled it with the loot. I then plaster taped over the open hole and reinforced the top where it was going to hang from.
After it dried (again) I divided the blank pinata in thirds lengthwise with a pencil and lightly sketched a character face on each of the thirds- we did Foofa, Toodee and Muno. Then I used regular acrylic craft paints to paint on the character faces. When dry my husband drilled holes in top and used some metal wire to make a loop to hang it from, fed through a rope and tadaa! crazy home made YGG pinata :)
