Party Games!

Here are some awesome games to play and other activities to do at your Yo Gabba Gabba birthday party!

Magic Balloons

In preparation, use a funnel to fill a balloon with about 1/2 - 1 cup confetti. (You can choose to do just one balloon or more.) Fill the rest of the balloon with air and tie-off. Be sure to have a thumb tack handy!

Have the children choose which character they're pretending to be. Let them know it's OK if their friends want to be the same character.

Explain the following story to the children:

Do you know what magic words DJ Lance Rock says to make the toys come to life? "YO GABBA GABBA!" Now, pretend to be your favorite character but hold real still, then when I say the words, "Yo Gabba Gabba!" everyone start dancing just like you just came to life!

Once the children are holding still, say the words, "Yo Gabba Gabba" as you toss the balloon into the air. As it comes down, pop it with the pin and let the confetti fly!

Everyone dance and go crazy!!!

Repeat if desired!

Feed Brobee

Prepare a large Mason jar by taping a picture of Brobee onto it. Using five quarters, tape small pictures of different foods onto the quarters as though they were a plate.

Place a chair in the middle of the room with "Brobee" behind the chair. Have the children line up, and one at a time, have them kneel on the chair looking over the back of the chair. Give them the quarters to try to drop into Brobee as though they were DJ Lance Rock!

Play Dough Figurines

Kids and adults will love making their favorite characters out of homemade play dough! Create this recipe in advance; each recipe makes enough for about four characters. Provide markers and googly eyes for your party guests to add details.

If left out, they will dry, but if play dough is kept in a Ziplock bag or in any airtight container, it could last several years!

This recipe is safe for ingestion in case one of your guests is tempted to taste it (not that it will taste very yummy!).

Play Dough Recipe:
2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 Cup salt
2 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
Food coloring

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a large pot.

On medium heat, stir all ingredients constantly until dough is the desired consistency of play dough.

Divide dough into four equal parts.

Use 6-8 drops of food coloring into each piece of dough. Knead until dough is thoroughly colored and color is even.

Notable Quotes

"My kids [Stella, 22 months, and Liam, 3] are obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba! It's a dream to guest on the show and do a dance-y dance!"

-Tori Spelling, actress

"I love YO GABBA GABBA. I don't care what you say, DJ Lance, Muno, Brobee, Foofa, Toodee and Plex have taught my daughter many valuable lessons--like the desirability of napping, for one. Not to throw objects at Daddy's skull. Not biting. The value of 'trying again' and 'not giving up.' All set to surprisingly weird, offbeat songs which--in another venue and with other lyrics, one might find oneself enjoying at a club. They get good indie bands as guests, and Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO is a regular. I know every song and every lyric by heart."

-Anthony Bourdain, host of No Reservations
