Dearest Gabba Friends, have a seat and prepare yourselves for some SERIOUS Yo Gabba Gabba Halloween eye candy!

I have been watching Heather from Viva la Violette as she carefully plans Dax's Halloween eve birthday party, and I have been debating for weeks on whether I feature her now, or if I wait it out until after the party has taken place! After seeing the latest creations, I have decided I could not wait any longer to feature her amazing ideas!

Part One:

This first part of the feature is about Dax's party invitations, which you can read in full here.

"After hours and hours of designing & printing, I’m FINALLY done with Dax’s birthday party invitations. In case you didn’t read my posts on party preparations, Dax’s birthday is on Halloween and we’re having a yo gabba gabba birthday/ costume party. I know, it’s a bit overwhelming- Halloween, birthday, costumes, and Yo Gabba Gabba. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get it all together!"

"The invitations are printed on metallic cardstock, and have numerous yo gabba gabba characters on it. (Which I had to pretty much make from scratch). The front of the invitation says ‘Boo Ya’ll”, with a creepy eyeball and other Halloween things. It opens up to reveal a dressed up Muno! The whole time I was making this Dax was freaking out and saying “Munoooo!!!”. It was so cute, and I could tell he was excited."

"Opening up an invitation with an RSVP card floatingw on top can be odd sometimes, and I wanted the invitation to be seen first. So I came up with the nifty idea of using clear photo corners to mount the RSVP card and envelope to the inside flap of the card."

"And of course since I decided on black envelopes, I had to create some fancy wrap around labels. I really think it finished off the invitation set!"

"Oh, and the glittery green striped candle is my ‘Ode to Brobee’ candle. I also made a Plex & Muno candle and they are so cute! I will be post instructions and photos of these later."

Part Two:

In this next part, Heather shows us some of the decorations plans to implement! Read the full story here.

"I went to party city and picked up some colorful little buckets. Then I made some faces in Illustrator- Brobee, Plex, and Muno. I printed them out on adhesive paper, cut them out, and viola! I’ll probably put candy and treats in these on the tables, since it will be Halloween =D"

"Even though the theme is Yo Gabba Gabba, I do still want to heavily incorporate Halloween into it. I decided to use the characters in their costumes for the cupcake toppers, and I really think they came out cute."

"I also used the same digital faces from the buckets and put them on a plastic banner made of solid color flags. It’s 15ft wide, and has Brobee, Plex, Toodee, and Muno. Sorry, no Foofa!"

"Next up are the favor bags. I picked up some small orange canvas totes, and made some large tags for them. Complete with Pirate Brobee =D"

"I bought crayons boxes for the bags, and added stickers to the front of the boxes. I also made the stickers in Illustrator/ Photoshop."

"I’ve secretly been obsessing over Poms. Well, this was my excuse to make some, and although I’m not completely satisfied with the results yet- it was fun! Even if I don’t make some for the party, I’d like to hang some white and purple poms in my studio."

"Dax was going crazy all day watching my aunt and I create all of this stuff. He kept saying ‘Muno, muno, muno!” and it was so cute. I decided to see what he will look like as Muno. Cute right?"

Part Three:

Heather most recently posted some even more Halloween treats to add to Dax's party, and we LOVE them!

"I’ve made some pretty good progress with Dax’s party preparations. His costume is finally finished (yay!), but I will wait to post pictures of it with the party pictures. It came out so cute, complete with red fuzzy poms all over it. He can’t decide if he loves it or hates it, but he had a good time trying to pull the fuzzballs off.

I was planning to paint all five of the gabba pumpkins, but I love the way Muno looks on his own. Especially on the vampire pumpkin stand that we picked up last year from Halloween Express. So cute! Dax and I painted him together yesterday. Muno makes a good vampire, and Dax was so excited when I put him out front. It’s pretty funny from the road too, his eyeball really catches your eye- teehee."

"The three glittered candles were a bit tedious to make, but I think they turned out ok. I bought some white pillar candles and used Martha Stewart glitter and glue to apply the colored glitter. I had to use white acrylic paint for plex and muno, b/c after glittering the rest of the candle there was glitter stuck on the unglittered areas. I used tape to section off the stripes for the Brobee candle. Plex was the hardest. I printed out his eyes on adhesive paper, cut them out and stuck them on. I used tape to section off the black glittered area."

"The presents were an idea found on gabbafriends.com. We got him a Thomas train table, and I plan on wrapping it as a huge Muno. I scaled and printed the same faces I had created for the buckets and banner."

"And finally, the Boo cups. My mom and I planned out the menu this past weekend, and we picked out some Boo-Nilla shakes to serve to the kiddies. I painted these yesterday as well."

Notable Quotes

"My kids [Stella, 22 months, and Liam, 3] are obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba! It's a dream to guest on the show and do a dance-y dance!"

-Tori Spelling, actress

"I love YO GABBA GABBA. I don't care what you say, DJ Lance, Muno, Brobee, Foofa, Toodee and Plex have taught my daughter many valuable lessons--like the desirability of napping, for one. Not to throw objects at Daddy's skull. Not biting. The value of 'trying again' and 'not giving up.' All set to surprisingly weird, offbeat songs which--in another venue and with other lyrics, one might find oneself enjoying at a club. They get good indie bands as guests, and Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO is a regular. I know every song and every lyric by heart."

-Anthony Bourdain, host of No Reservations
